The support for Ship to Gaza Sweden is growing 8th of February 2011
At a well attended ABF ( The Workers' Educational Association) meeting in Gothenburg on Tuesday evening the Middle East experts and professors Helena Lindholm Schulz and Ulf Bjereld gave their support for Ship to Gaza Sweden's initiative to break the blockade on Gaza.
The ABF meeting had the headline "Gaza after the ships?" ABF had gathered a panel, one of the Spokeperson's of Ship to Gaza Sweden Ann Ighe, Thaher Pelaseyed from the Swedish Left Party, Political Scientist Ulf Bjereld and Peace and Development researcher Helena Lindholm Schulz. The Moderator Nathalie Besér opened with the extensive question "What is the solution to the conflict in the Middle East?". With such an approach, it is easy to fall into all too familiar big political speculation.
Ann Ighe tried to turn “the on top perspective” by starting point on the politically created inhumane situation that currently prevails in Gaza. She pointed out that a precondition for any peace process worthy of the name is that the illegal, inhumane and to all parties involved destructive blockade ended immediately. For that her views met with sympathy from the panel as it seemed and the entire audience.
